Our Delicious “Gourmet Cookies”


4 & 20 Blackbirds has been making cookies longer than we have been making our shortbread. I call our cookies “gourmet cookies” because they are just that. These are for those of you who wish to remember that taste of a homemade cookie. Do you remember helping your Mother bake cookies? I mean really bake cookies, from scratch. Or going to Grandma’s house and having a home made cookie out of her cookie jar? Our’s taste just like that.

We use heritage recipes (because we find that they are the best). We use only the finest ingredients, and make small batches by hand, so the cookie is just the right texture. Richard mixes them until they are just right, they get scooped and baked and go straight into the bags.

A little bit about our Business


Four and Twenty Blackbirds is an Ontario Farm Family Owned Business and was established in 1990 by proprietress Gayle Allen. She and her husband Richard have traveled all over Ontario selling their quality baked goods and fine teas, from their period shop.

Gayle has been baking since she was a child. Some years ago she turned her interest to historical baking, and has become famous throughout Ontario and Eastern Canada for her delicious baked goods.

Richard has recently taken over the bulk of the baking. This has allowed Gayle to expand the business into the wholesale market. Their products can be found in Museums and gift shops throughout Ontario.

Four and Twenty Blackbirds Bakery has established a reputation for the highest quality in baked goods. All of our products are made in our health inspected bakery. They are made by hand in small batches with the finest ingredients. We use no additives or preservatives, to ensure the best tasting product.
