4 & 20 Blackbirds

Ontario Farm Family Owned Since 1990

What about that name!

We get asked all the time “How did you come up with the name.” Well Richard came up with it in his sleep. No lie, he woke up one morning, and exclaimed “ I think you should change the name to 4 & 20 Blackbirds.” I’m not sure what he was dreaming about, but in his defense, we did sell a lot of pies at that time. There you have it the bakery named 4 & 20 Blackbirds was born. A few others have popped up in the states in the last few years. But as far as I know we were the first.

Get to know a Little about us

Four and Twenty Blackbirds is an Ontario Farm Family Owned Business and was established in 1990 by proprietress Gayle Allen. She and her husband Richard have traveled all over Ontario selling their quality baked goods and fine teas, from their period shop.

Gayle has been cooking and baking since she was a child. And has made a lifetime study of the culinary arts. Some years ago she turned her interest to historical cooking and baking, and has become famous throughout Ontario and Eastern Canada for her delicious baked goods.

Richard always known as the “Cider Guy” at events has recently taken over some of the baking. This has allowed Gayle to expand the business into the wholesale market. Their products can be found in Museums and gift shops throughout Ontario.

Four and Twenty Blackbirds Bakery has established a reputation for the highest quality in baked goods. Our recipes have been developed and perfected by Gayle. All of our products are made in our health inspected bakery. They are made by hand in small batches with the finest ingredients. We use no additives or preservatives, to ensure the best tasting product.,

The last few years has found us doing more than historical venues. Because of Richard’s Scottish Heritage, we have expanded our events to Highland Games & Celtic Festivals. We have added Farmers Markets, Gift shows and other Venues around the Province.
